Terry Dicken's dødsannonse - skrevet av svigersønnen
Jeff Stephens.
Terry Dicken was born on July 4th,
1947 to Wilmer and Lorena Dicken in Cortez, CO. The oldest of four
children, Terry is preceded in death by his brother Darrell, and
his father Wilmer.
Terry attended the Hylandale Academy
in Rockland, Wisconsin, where he met his true love, Janice Minett.
Terry graduated in 1967, and married Jan on April 13, 1969. They
have two daughters, Yvonne, and Tonya. Terry has lived in numerous
towns and states, but home to Terry has always been the Dove Creek
area.
Wherever Terry went, he made friends fast. The first time you met
this man; you were greeted with a warm, genuine smile and a firm,
confident handshake. His unforgettable personality would put anyone
at ease, almost immediately. Terry loved to visit with people, on
just about any topic imaginable. To Terry, anytime was a good time
for a visit. Being on time or keeping to a schedule always took
a backseat to a good conversation. People were more important. Being
on time, well
. that just wasn't his style. I've often told
Tonya, my wife, that her dad would be late for his own funeral.
I wish now that were still true. Physically, Terry wasn't a large
man, 120 pounds, soaking wet. His body was small, but his heart
was gigantic. A truly kind and giving man, Terry was available to
help anyone with anything, 24/7. He was a volunteer firefighter,
former chief of the Egnar Fire Dept. and first responder. He'd recently
joined the Paradox Fire Dept and Montrose Country Sheriff's Posse.
Terry loved hiking and backpacking,
canoeing, rappelling, and of course, flying the ultralight. Terry
was full of life and love. Love for his family, his dogs and cats,
love for his friends, love of mankind. Above all else, Terry had
a deep, unshakable love for God. His faith was the true source of
his strength. No matter how difficult life was for him, he always
had a positive attitude, and held his head high, because he truly
trusted in God to guide his life. He died on January 30th, 2005
doing what brought him the most joy. Flying. I can't imagine a more
fitting end for him, and I know he wouldn't want it any other way.
Terry's passing leaves behind a large
family: His wife Janice, her parents, Don and Esther Minett &
his mother Lorena Dicken. Brother Jordan, sister Del Jean Butler,
and sister-in-law Diane Dicken. Uncles and Aunts: Max & Ada,
Cleve & Flossie, and Vera Fraka. Daughter Yvonne and her husband
Mike Isensee, and their daughters, Cassondra, Alexandra and Brittany.
Daughter Tonya and her husband Jeff Stephens, their daughters Krystal,
Brittany and Amber Stephens. Brother and sister-in-laws: Doug and
Janet, Jerry and Illona, Dean and Marcia, Duane and Nancy. Nephews
& Nieces: Vern and Melody, Terry Minett, Chad and Heidi, Brad
and Amy, Darrin and Jodie, Wes, Lucas, Denver, LaLonna, Joelle,
Ben, numerous cousins, great nephews and nieces, and his Mexican
brother, Lem Ramirez and his family.
He also leaves behind a wealth of
friends that are like family, from coast to coast. To list them
all, would take days.
Terry will be sorely missed by all
who knew him. A small man on earth, and giant man in heaven. 1)
