A. Johnson Passes Away Here
Oscar A. Johnson, 62, Rte. 3, Stoughton, passed away early Wednesday morning at
the Stoughton Community hospital, following a lingering illness. Son of the late
Carl and Martha Johnson, he was born in Stoughton August 6, 1892. He was educated
in the Stoughton - Evansville area, and in 1921 he married the former Ethel Merwin
of Boscobel at Rockfort, Ill. He was
a veteran of World War I and by trade he was a carpenter, which profession he
followed most of his life. He was a member of the Cairns Victory Post number 57
of Madison. Survivors include his wife:
one daughter, Mrs Don E. Minett, Richland Center; two sons, Donald, Jamestown,
ND and Russell, stationed with the army at Camp Kilmer, NJ.; two brothers, Emil
of Oregon, and Arthur of Stoughton; two sisters, Mrs. R. H. Snyder, Dayton O.,
and Mrs. James McClane, Madison. Other survivors are six grandchildren. Funeral
services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:45 at the Cummings-Edison-Olson
Funeral Home. Rev. L. L. Nesvig, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran church, will
officiate. Burial will be in the family lot at Riverside cementry. Friends may
call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday. 1)
