Greip Olson
Augestad
Greip Olson was the son of Ola
Greipson Augestad and an unknown mother. Greip is listed on
the farm Augestad in Jondal from 1603 until he died in 1616. He
and his wife had the following known children:
1.
Torstein
Greipson
2. Lars Greipson, died in 1650. He
was married to Anna Isaksdatter, Norheim, who must have been married
previously, as Lars was taxed for goods belonging to a stepdaughter.
Together with his brother Knut, Lars sold the odelgoods (the right
of inheritance for an eldest son) to the farm Indre Alsåker
in 1619. In the stories Lars goes by the name "Skafferen"
(The Brawler), and it would be both unfriendliness and
trouble between him and his neighbor, who was the local sherriff.
It is likely that they fought now and then, because Lars was fined
several times for fighting. Lars and his wife had 4 children: Lars,
Johannes, Ragna and Synneva.
3. Knut Greipson died in 1663 at
the farm Tørvik, bruk number 4, in Jondal. He had that farm
from 1617 until his death. He owned one laup (a unit of measurement
about 33 lbs) and eight boxes of grain in Tveito and Kvåle
in Voss as inheritence from his mother. In 1619 he and his brother
Lars sold their right of inheritance to the farm Indre Alsåker.
He is "Skaffer" and is often named as a juror, for the
last time in 1663. His wife is unknown, but they had a son: Greip
Knutson (1612-1693).
4. Dortea Greipsdatter married Simon
Larsson from Tørvik bruk number 8. Simon owned 2/3 of a laup
of butter in Tørvik in 1647, but in 1653 the widowed Dortea
was completely impoverished. They had a son, Greip Simonson. Dortea
remarried, to Lars Olson. 1)
