Harley Mikesell (1912 - 2002)

Harley Mikesell ble født den 05 april 1912 i Pepin County, Wisconsin, USA. Han døde den 23 januar 2002 i Durand, Wisconsin. Han var sønn av John O. D. Mikesell og Louise (Hoch) Mikesell. Harley giftet seg med Frances Virginia Bucklew, den 25 mai 1946 i Chicago Illinois, datter av Laportie Bucklew og Lillie Berry. Harley og Frances har 6 barn:

Obituary - Life Sketch

Harley Mikesell, 89, of Durand and formerly of Mondovi, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand, WI.

He was born on April 5, 1912 in rural Mondovi, WI. the only child of John O.D. and Louise (Hoch) Mikesell. He graduated from Mondovi High School and attended Mount Morris College, Mount Morris, IL. from 1930 - 1931, taking classes in science.

In the spring of 1945 he met Frances Bucklew at a Brethren conference meeting in Chicago, IL. They were married at a double wedding with Frances brother, Roland, in Chicago.

After their marriage they farmed on the Mikesell family farm, rural Mondovi and raised their six children. He also planted trees for Eau Claire County. In the early 1960's the family moved to Rockland, WI. where he managed the Hylandale Academy farm for two years. They returned to the family farm in Mondovi. In 1981 they moved to Durand and Harley was employed as a pulp wood cutter for several years.

He was a member of the Seventh - Day Adventist Church in Durand. He served as a Church Deacon. His interest in music consisted of playing several instruments, mainly the accordion and saxaphone. He also played the coronet and guitar.

He continued to be active until he was taken ill in January 2001, when he was diagnosed with leukemia. With the treatment available, due to his age, the disease was unable to be deterred, and on January 23, 2002 he fell asleep in Jesus, awaiting the day when he awakes he will be reunited with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Mikesell of Durand, WI.; 6 children, Janet (Doug) Minett of Rosalia, WA.; Dennis Mikesell of Eleva, WI.; John (Patricia) Mikesell of Black River Falls, WI.; Glen (Kathy) Mikesell of Eleva, WI.; Barbara (Larry) Andrews of Pendleton, OR. and Cheryl Mikesell of Durand, WI.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren and his parents.
