John G. Thompson (or Jørgen Johan (Gerhardsen) Thomsen as his name was in Norway) was born Dec. 17, 1865(# 1) on Ivarsøy farm, Fitjar, Hordaland County, Norway. He died on Aug. 30, 1946 in Clearwater County, Minnesota, USA. He was son of Gerhard Conrad Thomsen and Anna Martine Olsdatter. John married(1) Agneta (Nettie) Peterson. They had 4 children:

John married(2) Martina Amundson on July 10, 1904 in Clearwater County, MN. They had 3 children:

In the 1865 census, Jørgen Johan was living on Ivarsøy farm together with his parents and siblings.

According to the Norwegian book: Jacob Aaland: Fitjar Bygdeskipnad og bygdesoga, Jørgen Johan emigrated to New London, Minnesota in 1886. He probably emigrated together with his brother Hans. Later he moved to Traill Co., North Dakota. He was married twice and had 5 children and one adopted child. Latest known adress is Clearbrook, Minnesota.

In the 1900 census, John was living in Eddy, Clearwater County, MN, together with his children Conrad, Amanda and Ingeman.

In the 1910 census, John was living in Eddy, Clearwater County, MN, together with his wife Martine and his children Conrad, Amanda, Ingeman, Amund, Marie and Ruth.

In the 1920 census, John was living in Eddy, Clearwater County, MN, together with his children Mabel, Conrad, Amund, Marie and Ruth.

In the 1930 census, John was living in Eddy, Clearwater County, MN, together with his daughter Marie.

In the 1940 census, John was living in Eddy, Clearwater County, MN, together with his son Conrad and his daughter Amanda Nybo.
