Marie Elensdatter was born July
1, 1837(#128) on the tenant place Nylendet on Northern Ask farm,
Lier, Buskerud County, Norway. She died on Jan.
30, 1911 in Clearwater County, Minnesota, United States. She
was daughter of Elen
Christensen Ask and Anne
Larsdatter Ask. She married the
widower Narve
Christensen on Aug.
1, 1869(#18) in Strømsø church, Drammen, Buskerud
County, Norway. They had 7 children:

All the children change their last name to Ness in America, except
from Hans Andreas who used the name Narveson.
Mari's christening was held on Sep.
24, 1837 in Frogner church in Lier. (See the birth link above).
In the 1865
census(see #10), Marie was living in Brohuset in Bragernes, Drammen,
Buskerud County, Norway. (Brohuset was located at the bridge, and was one of the 388 houses who
burned down in the big fire in Drammen on July 12, 1866).

In the 1875
census(see #11-17), Marie was living in Bragernes, Drammen, Buskerud
County, Norway, together with her husband, her children, Cristian,
Edvard, Hans and Carl and her stephdaughter Betse (Betzy Marie).
Her name was then written as Marie Chrisensen.
Marie received an emigration attest to America from the church in
1881
for her self and her three youngest children. (See #63-66 at the
bottom on the right side).
