Tallak Johnson (1832 - 1910)

Tallak Johnson (or Tallak Johannessen as his name was in Norway) was born on Apr. 20, 1832(# 34), Tveita farm, Fitjar, Hordaland County, Norway. He died on June 20, 1910, Belgrade, Stearns County, Minnesota, USA. He was son of Johannes Tollaksen and Martha Larsdatter. He married Else Tørrisdatter Hystad on Nov. 9, 1859(# 30) in Stord church, Hordaland County, Norway. They had many children:

1. Mads Johnson, b. July 22, 1860(# 86), d. Apr. 23, 1934, married Herborg Reinertsdatter. Find A Grave.
2. John Martin Johnson, b. Apr. 18, 1865(# 23), d. April 27, 1950, married Ingeborg Marie Gerhardson.

Tallak's christening was held on Apr. 23, 1832(# 34) in Fitjar church, Fitjar, Hordaland County.

In the 1865 census Tallak was living on Lunde farm in Stord together with his wife Else and their two sons.

"Thallak Johannessen Lunde" received an emigration attest from the church dated Apr. 13, 1866(#17 on the right side),

Tollak Johnsen his wife Else and their children Johannes and Mads emigrated with the ship Martha from Bergen Apr. 27, 1866 to Quebec June 11, 1866. Else's siblings John and Dordi was on the same ship.

In the 1870 census Tallak (Tollok) was living in Minnesota together with his wife and their children.

In the 1875 census Tallak (Tollak) was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with his wife Else, their children and Else's parents.

In the 1880 census Tallak was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with his wife, their children and his mother in law.

In the 1885 census Tallak (Tollak) was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with his wife, their children and his mother in law.

In the 1895 census Tallak (Tollak) was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with his wife, their children and his mother in law.

In the 1900 census Tallak was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with his wife and their children.

In the 1905 census Tallak was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with his wife and their children.

In the 1910 census Tallak was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with his wife and their children.
