Henrik Trulsen (1832 - )
Henrik
Trulsen was born in 1832 on Lille Sleire farm, Masfjorden in Hordaland
County, Norway. He was son of Truls
Monsen and Anne Pedersdatter. In 1849 Henrik moved to Austgulen
farm in Gulen, Sogn og Fjordane County. He married Nov. 17, 1849, Ingeborg
Hansdatter, Austgulen, b. 1821. She was daughter of Hans Olsen Midttakle
b. 1776, d. Jan. 30, 1847, m. Oct. 18, 1799, Marie Olsdtr. Rutledal.
Henrik and Ingeborg had 11 children:
1. Anne Henriksdatter,
b. Aug. 24, 1850.
2. Marthe Henriksdatter, b. April 24, 1852.
3. Orlaug Henriksdatter, b. Mai 22, 1854.
4. Truls Henriksen, b. 1856, d. 1856.
5. Trine Henriksdatter, b. Sep. 03, 1857.
6. Iver Henriksen, b. 1859, d. 1859.
7. Anne Henriksdatter, b. 1859, d. 1863.
8. Hans Henriksen, b. 1861, 1861.
9. Hans Henriksen, b. July 27, 1862.
10. Helene Henriksdatter, b. 1863, d. 1863.
11. Helene Henriksdatter, b. 1865.
Henrik Trulsen Austgulen, born 1824 on
Lille Sleire farm in Masfjorden, and his wife Ingeborg Hansdatter, born
1821, were living on a tenant place on nedre Austgulen farm in Gulen,
which they leased in 1849. In the Gulen bygdebok, Ivar Kleiva wrote:
-The buried protocol shows that they
had a good reason to move from Gulen and try something else.
Buried Oct. 27, 1856 - Truls Henriksen,
1/4 year.
Buried May 23, 1858 - Iver Henriksen, 4 weeks.
Buried Dec. 19, 1859 - Hans Henriksen 8 days.
Buried July 14, 1861 - Helene Henriksdtr. 1/2 year.
Buried Dec. 25, 1864 - Anne Henriksdtr. 4 years.
They lost 5 children, but they still
had 5 daughters and a son who emigrated with them to America in 1867:
Anne, 17 years; Marthe, 14; Orloug 12; Thrine, 9; Hans 5, og Helene
2 years old.
They emigrated from Bergen to Quebec
in Canada with the ship Helvetia. Henrik is then mentioned as 44 years
old, a cotter and soldier. 1)
