Anne Kristine and her daughter Christiane emigrated from Oslo, Norway on 9 June 1904 on the ship S/S Hekla (2), Scandinavian America Line. They arrived in New York on 26 June 1904. Ellis Island record for Anne Berg. She was going to G. Thomsen (probably Tolleif George Thomsen) in Opstead, MN, so she must known about the Thomsen's before she left Norway, how ?. I think that she knew Tolleif George's wife Tykelia Caroline Hegna from Norway. They were both born in Solum, Telemark County and both were living in Skien, Telemark before they emigrated.Ellis Island record for Christiane Berg.

Lorentz homesteaded on the northwest side of Bear Lake in 1893. He became dissatisfied with the farm he developed there and moved to Saskatchewan in 1918 to become a wheat farmer. He died of a heart attack while helping to prepare for the harvest in 1926.

At the time Taulerius Conrad Thomsen and his sons settled in to northern Minnesota (1901), the US Government was granting land to anyone for asking. They each received 160 acres of land, adjacent to each other. Here you can see Lorentz's land patents. 1)
