Martha Oline Hansdatter (Martha Oline Jacobson) (1854 - 1904)

Martha Oline Hansdatter was born 23 Apr. 1854(# 29) on the tenant place Moen on Lerstang farm, Eidanger, Telemark County, Norway. She died 18 Jan. 1904 in Wood Lake, Burnett, Wisconsin, USA. She was daughter of Hans Jacobsen and Maren Johanne Larsdatter. Martha Oline married abt. 1883 Henry Smith. They had 4 children:

1. Mabel K Smith, b. Oct. 1883, d. 1946, m. 1 Oct. 1905, Frank Alonzo "Lonnie" Taber.
2. Hilda W Smith, b. 9 Dec. 1884, d. 26 Sep. 1974, m. 20 Sep. 1902, Daniel Solomon Demarest.
3. Unknown.
4. Unknown.

Martha Oline was christened 4 June 1854(# 29) in Eidanger church, Eidanger, Telemark County, Norway.

She emigrated to USA 1864 together with her parents and siblings and was living in Muskegon, Michigan, for one year, where her father died, and she came west with her mother and siblings to Pierce County, Wisconsin. She used the name Martha Olina Jacobson in USA.

In the 1900 census she was living in Gilman, Pierce, WI, together with her husband Henry Smith and their daughter Hilda Smith. Martha's mother and Martha's brother Jerry is also living with them. Her name was then listed as Martha Smith and her immigration year was 1865. She was mother to four children.

In the
1905 census Henry Smith was living in Meenon, Burnett, Wisconsin together with his daughter Hilda W Demarest and her husband Dan S Demarest.

In the 1940 census her daugther Hilda W Demarest was living as a widow in Barron City, Wisconsin together with her sister Mabel's family.

Wisconsin, Death Records, 1867 -1907, shows that she died 1904 in Wood Lake, Burnett, Wisconsin and her father's name was Hans Jakopson, her mother's name was Maren Jakopson and her spouse's name was Henry Smith.
