Mathias Johnson Haugen (1812 - 1889)

Mathias Johnson Haugen (or Johannes Mathias Johannessen Fjellhaugen as his name was in Norway) was born 1812 on Fjellhaugen farm, Skånevik, Hordaland County, Norway. He died on Apr. 2, 1889, in Minnesota, USA. He was son of Johannes Johannessen Fjellhaugen and Anna Mattisdatter. Mathias married(1) Oct. 22, 1837(# 30), Marthe Arnesdatter Einstabøvoll.

Mathias married(2) July 7, 1839(# 10), Valgjerd Arnesdatter Einstabøvoll. They had 5 children:

Mathias married(3) Aug. 13, 1869, "Helene Forisdater" in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. They had 2 children:

Mathias' christening was held on July 6, 1812 in Skånevik church, Skånevik, Hordaland County, Norway.

After he was married he moved to Einstabøvoll farm in Valestrand, Sveio, Hordaland County, Norway.

Mathias, his second wife Valgjerd and their children emigrated to America in 1857.

In the 1875 census, Mathias was living in Colfax, Kandiyohi, Minnesota together with his wife Ingeborg and his daughter Anna C Johnson.
