Aaste Marie Hansdatter (Aaste Marie Jacobson) (1848 - 1936)

Aaste Marie Hansdatter was born 20 Aug. 1848(# 44) on the tenant place Moen on Lerstang farm, Eidanger, Telemark County, Norway. She died 30 Oct. 1936 in Seeley, Sawyer, Wisconsin, USA. She was daughter of Hans Jacobsen and Maren Johanne Larsdatter. Aaste Marie married John Thompson 5 Apr. 1868 in Rush River Church, Pierce, Wisconsin, USA. They had 11 children:

Aaste Marie was christened 12 Nov. 1848(# 44) in Eidanger church, Eidanger, Telemark County, Norway.

She emigrated to USA 1864 together with her parents and siblings and was living in Muskegon, Michigan, for one year, where her father died. She moved together with her mother and siblings to Pierce County, Wisconsin. She used the name Aaste Marie Jacobson in USA.

In the 1880 census she was living in Gilman, Pierce, WI, together with her husband John Thompson and their children Tilla H, Alber M, Thomas O, Maren H and Hans. Her name was then listed as Aaste Thompson.

In the 1910 census she was living in Lenroot, Sawyer, Wisconsin together with her husband John Thompson and their children Albert and John A. Her name was listed as Aaste M Thompson and her immigration year was 1865.

In the 1920 census she was living in Lenroot, Sawyer, Wisconsin together with her husband John Thompson and their grandson Arthur Thompson (son of Aaste Karine Thompson), their son-in-law Holver Holden and his wife Tilley H. Holden, their grandson Floyd A. Thompson (son of Ludvig C. Thompson) and John Thompson's sibling's Nels Hangen (Nils Haugen) and Mary Hangen (Maren Haugen). Her name was then listed as Maria Thompson and her immigration year was 1865.

She was buried in Greenwood Cemetery.

In the "Finf a grave index" her birth date is listed as 5 Apr. 1848, but the correct date was 20 Aug. 1848. See above.
