Olava Marie Hansdatter (1873 - 1950)

Olava Marie was born Nov. 8, 1873(#70) in Stord, Hordaland County, Norway. She died 1850 in Saskatchewan, Canada. She was daughter of Hans Olsen Braaten and Sophie Madsdatter Hystad. Marie O. Hanson married her second cousin Anton Thorson July 25, 1892 in Kandiohi County, Minnesota. Anton and Marie had 11 children. See Anton's obit.

Her mother Sofie Madsdatter Rommetveit received an emigration attest from Stord church for herself, 3 children and 2 grandchildren dated June 4, 1889. See # 15-20 on the right side. Here she is mentioned as Olava Marie.

Marie Hansdatter Rommertveit emigrated June 6, 1889 from Bergen, Norway. They travelled with the White Star Line.

In her marriage record they are mentioned as Anton Thorson and Marie O. Hanson.


In the 1895 census "Mrs. Maria Thorson" is living in Colfax Township, Kandiyohi, Minnesota, United States together with her husband Anton Thorson and two children Arthur A. and Henry Sophus.
