Thor Nelsen Hystad (Abt. 1795 - 1838)

Thor Nelsen was born abt. 1795 on Hystad farm, Stord, Hordaland County, Norway. He died Aug. 27, 1838(#72) on Hystad farm, Stord, Hordaland County, Norway. He was son of Nel Madsen Hystad and Kari Thordatter Bortveit. Thor married Britha Anfindsdatter Ådland on Jan. 13, 1827(#1) in Stord church. Thor and Britha had 3 children:

1. Nel Thorsen, b. Apr. 25. 1827(#35), died young.
2. Kari Thorsdatter, b. Jun. 12. 1828(#56), d. Dec. 14, 1900(#3), m(1), Oct. 14, 1846(#37), Søren Jacobsen Frugården, m(2) May 11, 1880(#6), Rasmus Sørensen Frugården.
3. Andfin "Anfin" Thorson, b. born Feb. 5, 1830(#19), d. Sep. 27, 1895, m. Nov. 25, 1855(#30), Anne Hansdatter Hystad.


Hysingstad is the same as Hystad farm.

His lastname are written as Nelsen, Nehlsen, Nælsen and Nielsen in the sources.

The churchbook for 1795 is missing.

Thor bought a part of Hystad farm in the 1820's.

In the 1835 census Thor was living on Hysingstad (Hystad farm) together with his wife and their children. They had 1 horse, 6 cows, 10 sheep and 1 pig.

Thor's burial was held on Sep. 4, 1838(#72) in Stord church.
