Hans Pettersen Ersland (1811 - Aft. 1885)

Hans Pettersen was born 1811 on Ersland farm, Bømlo, Hordaland County, Norway. He was son of Petter Johnsen Tormodsetre and Anna Nilsdatter Oldreid. Hans married Siri Nilsdatter Grindheim on Jan. 5, 1839 probably in the Old Moster Church. They had 3 known children.

1. Petter Hansen, b. Apr. 7, 1839(# 31), to America, m. Apr. 6, 1899 Helga Halvorson.
2. Anna Hansdatter, b. July 9, 1844(# 100), To America, m. 1873, Tosten Borden.
3. Cathrine Hansdatter, b. Aug. 5, 1851(# 140), d. 1924, m Feb. 7, 1874, Lars Olson.




Hans' christening was held June 14, 1811 in Bømlo.


In the 1865 census Hans Pettersen was living on Grindheim farm together with her husband and their children Petter and Katharine.


"Hans Pedersen Grindem" emigrated to America together with his wife and their children. They departed from Bergen, Norway May 20, 1869 with the bark Lyna and arrived in Quebec, Canada June 13, 1869. Passenger List. See # 69-73.

In the 1880 census "Hans Peterson" was living in Norway Lake Township, Kandiyohi, Minnesota, United States together with his wife and their son Peter. Also a stepdaughter Anna was living with them.

In the 1885 census "Hans Peterson" was living in Norway Lake Township, Kandiyohi, Minnesota, United States together with his wife and their son Peter. Also a Hanna Serina Peterson was living with them.
